Tampa Floats Wellness Center is now open!! Our first location is located in the Carrollwood area of Tampa, Florida. Tampa Floats specializes in Floatation Therapy. Clients enter a private spa room outfitted with a floatation pod or an open float room that holds 93-degree water containing 850-1000 pounds of pharmaceutical-grade Epsom salts. The water is as dense as the Dead Sea, where one can float on the surface effortlessly without any body manipulation.
Because the temperature of the water is the same as skin temperature, within a few minutes you lose the sensation of where the body stops and the water starts.
Float centers have been popping up in nearly every major city over the last few years and garnering the attention of media outlets from local news stations to The Wall Street Journal, ESPN, and Time Magazine. Tampa Floats will be North Tampa’s largest float center, featuring two float pods and a custom-built float room. Other services include a full spectrum Infrared Sauna as well as NormaTec Pulse Massage for ultimate recovery..
Flotation Therapy is a luxurious way to soothe and heal the body from the constant stress of life's daily pressure you can leave the noise and confusion behind and perhaps, for the first time in your life, experience total relaxation and deep healing in your private, peaceful space. It is truly the ultimate ESCAPE. As opposed to a swimming pool where there is a sense of weightlessness, gravity in a floatation tank is completely nullified by the buoyancy caused by the dissolved Epsom salt.
Custom Float Room
Our custom built float room is an open pool of water that is spaciously designed and one of a kind. The water in the tank is 10.5 inches deep and is kept at body temperature. The most important element of the tank is the addition of magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) that is dissolved in the tank: approximately 900 pounds of Epsom salt to 180 gallons of water or 1,300 pounds of Epsom salt to 270 gallons of water—this is what creates the weightless “float.”
Infrared saunas are an effective tool for natural healing and prevention. Infrared light has the ability to penetrate human tissue which in turn produces a host of anti-aging health benefits making infrared saunas one of the “hottest” home therapies for overall healthier living. If you want to get yourself back into balance, the benefits of an infrared sauna may be just what you need to achieve your wellness goals.

“The whole idea of the isolation tank is to see what happens to consciousness when you take away or eliminate the input into your senses, so you’re in a box floating in salt water – with 1,000lbs of salt, so you’re very buoyant. You can’t see anything, your ears are under water, and you can’t hear anything. And what does the mind do? It’s so active, and it’s constantly projecting, like a movie screen.”
“I think it’s one of the most incredible pieces of equipment for self-help and introspective thought that you could ever find. It’s been one of the most important tools for me in personal growth for understanding myself, how I am, and what effect I do have on other people.”
“WOW! It took a few seconds to completely let my arms, legs and head relax in the water but then the weightlessness took over. It was a bizarrely delightful experience. A great form of meditation. I felt calm & peaceful, yet energized…”
The water’s the temperature of your body so you kind of really just feel nothing. And I was in there for an hour and 45 minutes. I didn’t realize I was in there that long…you come out and everything’s great…it lasts for a while, and your skin feels really good. I did it again.
It’s an opportunity to relax, for one. And it obviously has some physical benefits as well, with [the magnesium in] the salt, being able to relax those sore muscles. But to get away from the demands and all the stimuli we have in the world and in our lives, that was the main draw. When I get in the tank, I lean back, try to take a couple of deep breaths, ground myself and commence the floating.
An hour in the tank and I’d come out relaxed, rested, my back feeling amazing, and in good shape to interact with normal, non-restaurant people. Interestingly, I found that for a day or two after floating, my experience of colors and flavors would be much more acute and intense. Reds were redder, blues brighter, and the taste of food more explosive. Lying in the tank, I’d feel like I was moving through space, my brain speaking to itself in an unfamiliar language.
