Yes you probably have! Other names for floating include: sensory deprivation, isolation tanks, and restricted environmental stimulation therapy (REST), to name a few. Whatever you call it, floating has been around since the 70’s, when some more extreme and less enjoyable psychology experiments evolved into modern floatation therapy, which is friendly and fun and still keeps all of the powerful and intriguing benefits of sensory deprivation. We recommend 60 to 90 minutes for your first float. Some people use the tank for shorter sessions, and others find 2 or 3 hour sessions very valuable. Generally the benefits increase with longer floats. Experiment with your own time in the tank to discover what is best for you.
